The 25-year-old then defended his achievement on social media before receiving support from teammates and coaches.
Jose Peceiro reiterated his confidence in Uzoho ahead of Nigeria’s match against Lesotho, saying the Omonia goalkeeper is his first choice.
“Uzoho is our goalkeeper. Okoye, Oho, Amasu, Adeleye are our goalkeepers. If I find a better goalkeeper than Uzoho, I will take him and he will play. I’m not an idiot, I want to play against the best player. We all know he made a mistake against Saudi Arabia. He knows it, I know it too. I told him, and he told me.”
Kasimpasa central defender Kenneth Omeruo also sent a message of support to the goalkeeper and urged Nigerians to get behind the goalkeeper.
“A lot of people might say he made a mistake, but I think he’s the best goalkeeper we have and he saved us the game. We shouldn’t forget.” It’s not easy for the goalkeepers either, they need the fans to stand behind them and show support. The coach is behind him, and so am I. ”
