Rachin Ravindra’s Father Clarifies His Son Was Not Named After Rahul Dravid And Sachin Tendulkar

Rachin Ravindra’s father has quashed stories that his son was named after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, saying it was a pure coincidence.

Rachin is cricket’s newest sensation and his form played a big role in New Zealand’s place in the semi-finals. The 23-year-old scored his 565 runs in his nine innings, averaging 70.62, scoring his 300 and his 250.

Rachin has made headlines for his exploits on the field, but his name has also been in the conversation. Common history is that his parents were big cricket fans and his name is a combination of these two legends. However, the Indian-born left-hander’s father revealed that his name was not chosen intentionally.

Ravi Krishnamurthy told The Print: I chose this name because it sounded good, was easy to spell, and was short. It was only a few years later that I realized that the name was a combination of Rahul and Sachin’s names. He was not named with the intention of making our child a cricketer or anything. ”

Interestingly, Rachin had earlier claimed that his name was actually named after Rahul and Sachin. “When my mom and dad were deciding on names, we both liked Rahul and Sachin, so we ended up with ‘Ra’ for Rahul and ‘Chin’ for Sachin, but that’s a long time ago. We don’t talk about it much anymore. Two great players, we are so lucky to be able to bear their names. ”

Rachin’s grandfather, Balakrishna Adiga, confirmed the same. “My daughter and son-in-law were big fans of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, so I gave them a new name and named them Lachin.”

New Zealand will play India in the first semi-final of the 2023 World Cup on November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
