“He is a legend”- Akor Adams reveals how ex-Super Eagles striker has helped him at Montpellier

Akor only joined Montpellier in last summer’s transfer window and has performed well in the first few months

Nigerian striker Eiko Adams has revealed that former Super Eagles star John Utaka has helped him since arriving in Montpellier, reports Soccer.

Adams moved from Lilleström to former Ligue 1 champions Montpellier during the international break. Former Nigerian striker Utaka, who helped the club win League One in 2012, was present at the 23-year-old’s unveiling ceremony.

The retired Super Eagles striker is currently Montpellier’s youth coach and Adams revealed that he has developed a good relationship with the former Nigerian striker since joining the club.

“He’s a great guy. For me he’s a legend, a first-rate guy and he helped me a lot,” according to PV SportFriday’s Montpellier vs. Nice Adams said after the game’s scoreless draw.

“He is also a striker and has a lot of experience, so he often comments on my performance after matches. For me, it is positive to have him at the club.”

Since arriving in Montpellier, Adams has had a revelation. He currently has seven goals in his 12 games in Ligue 1 and shows no signs of slowing down.

If Adams continues to score goals for Montpellier, he could be called up to the Super Eagles soon.
