New Zealand’s injury woes continue as Matt Henry left the field while holding his hamstring in the middle of the World Cup 2023 ongoing clash against South Africa.
Henry had to leave the field midway through the sixth over of the game because he felt physical discomfort while bowling. He grabbed his right hamstring after sending the third ball of the over to the ground and limped off the field to seek treatment. All-rounder Jimmy Neesham was brought on to complete the over.
It was later confirmed that Henry was suffering from a “strain” in his right hamstring and would not bowl in the match.
New Zealand have already suffered several injuries during the tournament. Earlier, captain Kane Williamson suffered a freak fracture of his thumb which prevented his recovery from cruciate ligament damage. Meanwhile, pacer Lockie Ferguson and all-rounder Mark Chapman, who is sidelined with a calf injury, are currently suffering from problems with their right Achilles tendon.
