Ethiopia land in Nigeria ahead of Olympics qualifiers reverse fixture

Lucy is planning a surprise and has arrived in Nigeria for the match

The Ethiopian women’s team has arrived in Nigeria ahead of the second qualifying match for the Paris 2024 Olympics, reports Soccernet.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons held the Lucys to a 1-1 draw when the teams met in the first leg at the Abebe Bikila Stadium last Wednesday.

Both teams will compete for a spot in the next qualifying round on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Ahead of the match, a 35-member Ethiopian delegation arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The Lucys will be hoping they can surprise nine-time champions Afro-Nigeria, especially after their mediocre performance in the first leg.

Nonetheless, Randy Waldrum’s women’s team will look to return to its best performance and beat Ethiopia convincingly due to the difference in quality. Nigeria is also under pressure, having not qualified for the Olympics since Beijing in 2008.

If the Super Falcons win the match at the MKO Abiola Stadium, they will face the winner of Cameroon vs Uganda. Indomitable He Lioness is the favorite to win, but in the second leg he will have to overcome a two-goal deficit.
