IND v ENG highlights: India thrashed England by 100 runs at Lucknow on a day where numerous records tumbled,
India were forced to bat at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium and found themselves in a tight spot at 40-3, but Rohit Sharma (87 off 101 balls) and KL Rahul (39 off 58 balls) Ball) added 91 runs for the third wicket.
Rohit, in particular, performed admirably on the pitch where he was occasionally denied the ball. There was also a notable twist for the weirdos.
Sulyakumar Yadav (49 off 47 balls) pushed India past the 200-run mark. Although the long tail didn’t develop, his 50 overs helped India reach 229-9. In England, David Willie won in his 3:45, Chris Woakes in his 2:33 and Adil Rashid in his 2:45.
England’s opener scored 30 points in 28 balls before Jasprit Bumrah (3-32) scored on successive balls. Mohamed Shami (4:22) also scored two goals from two and England were suddenly 39-4. With Kuldeep Yadav (2-29) also in the mix, England lost to 129.
Eight English batsmen reached double figures, with only Liam Livingstone (27 off 46 balls) reaching over 16 balls.
India has won six games so far and has almost guaranteed a place in the semi-finals. England were all but eliminated from the race with five defeats in six games and a net run rate of -1.652. However, neither India’s qualification nor England’s elimination is mathematically certain.
England is also eyeing the Champions Trophy in 2025. Apart from the host Pakistan, only the top seven teams from the 2023 World Cup will qualify for the tournament.
