Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has criticized Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, calling him overrated. This happened during his 2023 ICC World Cup match between Australia and New Zealand at his HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on October 28.
On Saturday (October 28), Australia faced trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in the 27th match of the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. The notable match was played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.
Australia defeated the New Zealand team without Kane Williamson by five points. The Kiwis gave Australia the lead, scoring 388 runs in 49.2 overs, thanks to Travis Head’s debut World Cup century.
Rachin Ravindra’s 116 and twin fifties from Darryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham kept the Blackcaps in the match until the last ball, but they lost the match due to heavy hits. Adam Zampa took his 3 wickets for Australia, setting the record for the 2023 ODI World Cup in his 6 matches he reached 16 wickets, the most by any bowler to date.
“Mitchell Starc Kaafi Overrated Hai”- Mohammad Kaif
Star pacer Mitchell Starc failed to take a single wicket for the first time in 24 ODI World Cup matches. Tied for third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the men’s 50-over mega event, he was completely absent on Saturday, coming under pressure for 89 runs within his nine-over quota.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who was commentating on the Australia vs New Zealand match, was upset over the 33-year-old left-arm pacer’s poor performance in Australia’s sixth match of the ongoing tournament. A bowler who called him overrated was beaten by a thug.
“In my opinion, Mitchell Starc is very overrated. Very overrated. He just eats all the time. Where are the wickets? Finished with 5 overs and 43 runs. Starc made his debut in 2015 when the ODI World Cup was held in Australia and New Zealand and was the leading wicket-taker in both the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups.
