‘He played a massive role’– Mikel Obi praises former Liverpool player for crucial role in AFCON 2013 victory

Nigeria’s Super Eagles won their third African Cup of Nations title in 2013 but have not won since.

Former Chelsea star Mikel Obi has praised Spartak Moscow striker Victor Moses, praising him as the best player he has ever played with at international level, reports Soccernet.ng. Ta.

Mikel fondly recalled the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament where Moses delivered a great performance and contributed significantly to the Super Eagles’ victory in the tournament.

Moses, who signed for Chelsea from Wigan Athletic, showed off his speed and shooting skills during the AFCON tournament.

The former Chelsea striker, who joined Liverpool on loan during the same period, scored twice and provided the crucial assist for Mba’s goal on Sunday, which secured victory for Stephen Keshi’s side.

In an interview with Cafon Line, Mikel singled out Moses as the most fun player to play with, especially highlighting Moses’ immense influence in Nigeria’s third AFCON trophy win.

“And the players I played with, you know, I played with a lot of great players. But the question is, when we actually won the tournament; It comes down to players who had an impact on the team that I really liked at the time.

“Actually, it was a huge thing, it was Victor Moses. When we won the Nations Cup, Victor was in really good shape. “He was huge in our tournament win. “I played my part,” he said.
