Europa League King! Boniface stunner nominated for Goal of The Week

Boniface was awarded the Europa League top scorer award last night before the kick-off of Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s match against Qarabag FK at the Bay Arena.

Super Eagles striker Victor Okoh Boniface’s stunning shot against Qarabag FK has been nominated for Goal of the Week in the UEFA Europa League, reports Soccernet.ng.

The striker has made an excellent start to life at Leverkusen since joining from Union Saint Giroise and is currently averaging over one goal per game since joining his new team.

Alongside young German sensation Florian Wirtz, Boniface caused a lot of problems for Qarabag’s defense last night by scoring goals and helping his team-mates to score points.

The Nigerian player had several chances to score, but his long-range shots ended up in the net. A quick pass from 20-year-old Wirtz outside the box connected with Boniface, who took his time and fired the ball into the top corner beyond the reach of the goalkeeper. It was truly a breathtaking goal!

Other than that, Lucas Paqueta’s goal for West Ham last night also played a role in the team’s defeat. The Brazilian volleyed home from outside the area for West Ham to equalize, but Angelo Ogbonna’s own goal canceled out the equalizer.

Leverkusen continued their good form and remained solid at both ends of the pitch. With Alonso on the sidelines, Werkself is yet to accept defeat in all competitions this season.
