“The laziest footballer I’ve ever seen” -Ex-Super Eagles star speaks on experience with Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard and John Obi Mikel have been teammates for six years and won the Premier League together under Antonio Conte in 2015.

Super Eagles star John Mikel Obi has described Eden Hazard as the laziest footballer he has ever played with, reports Soccernet.ng.

Mikel and Hazard played together for five seasons from 2012 until 2016, when Mikel retired from Stamford Bridge.

During his time at the club, they won the Premier League title, the UEFA Europa League and the FA Cup, creating a trophy-filled career during his time at the club.

Hazard left the club much later and moved to Madrid in 2018, but injuries derailed his big move. He finally retired from football a few weeks ago, claiming it was time for him to drink some more beer.

In the Obi Wan Podcast, Mikel explained what the Belgian legend’s training is like.

“He’s the laziest footballer I’ve ever seen in my life, but then the weekend comes and he wins the man of the match award and then he comes on and shows everyone. The former Super Eagles midfielder said: “Come on, guys.”

“If you look at him now, he’s lost a bit of weight, but when he was at Chelsea the night before the game, he sat there for about 20 minutes after dinner eating rice pudding. I like my food,” Obi added.

The former Super Eagles captain stressed that despite Hazard’s mistakes in training, his performance during matches was rarely in question as he always delivered top-notch performances. .

“Then he goes to bed, wakes up in the morning, shows up to the game at 3 p.m., and produces. During practice he isolates himself and doesn’t really participate. He just hangs out, but… It pays for itself over the weekend.”

During his time at Chelsea, Hazard was considered by many to be the best footballer in the world, along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi.
