The 2023 AFCON draw will be held in Ivory Coast on Thursday and Mikel Obi will be present at the event
Former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has accused former Chelsea teammates Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba of not inviting him to Ivory Coast when they played togetherFootball Netreported.
The draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will take place on Thursday in Ivory Coast and Mikel will take part in the event.
The former Chelsea star shared a video of his trip to Ivory Coast. Upon arriving in the country, he boasted about the country’s beautiful scenery and trolled his former teammates Carew and Didier.
He jokingly accused them of not inviting them to his country because they were “stingy.”

Mikel is just one of many retired players taking part in the AFCON draw. Former Zambia national team player Rainford Kalaba, who led Zambia to the championship in 2012, will also be in attendance. Mikel himself was also part of the team that won Nigeria his third AFCON title in 2013.
Nigeria is in pot 2 along with Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Therefore, there is a possibility that Ivory Coast and Zambia will be in the same group. The event will be held in the capital Abidjan.
