Watch: Mustafizur Rahman suffered an injury scare after Joe Root pulled out of a delivery at the last moment, forcing the bowler to abort his delivery stride.
England openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan got off to a quick start, scoring 117 runs off 107 balls after Shakib Al Hasan opted to bowl in Dharamsala. In his 100th ODI, Bairstow scored a 59-ball 52 before being bowled by Shakib.
Joe Root then joined Malan and England continued to rack up scores despite a barrage of Shakib’s bowling changes. After 22 overs, England were 140-1 from him.
At this point Shakib remembered the spearman Mustafizur Rahman. Coming to the bowling, Mustafizur lost his 28 in his first four overs.
Mustafizur headed across the wicket to bowl, but Root pulled away at the last moment. At this point, Mustafizur was in the pre-delivery leap stage. While the others were able to survive the action, he decided to stop his action mid-jump and fell and collapsed.
He didn’t wake up right away, so the Bangladesh team’s physiotherapist rushed out. However, after treatment, he got back on his feet and resumed bowling, and in the over he conceded 3 runs and in the next over he conceded 2 more runs.
