A series of earthquakes rocked Naples on Tuesday night, spreading fear and anxiety among residents, especially among Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reported.
This seismic event, the strongest in recent weeks, occurred at 3:35 a.m. today (Wednesday) and woke the whole of Naples from its slumber.
The epicenter of the earthquake was approximately 3 kilometers deep and caused brief but intense shaking that caused panic among the people of Naples.
Tutto Naples said this was the strongest earthquake to hit the region in nearly 40 years. Fortunately, there are no immediate reports of casualties or significant property damage.
The fire brigade and civil protection team are currently checking the safety of the building.
On the other hand, there may be growing concerns regarding Nigerian striker Osimhen, who currently plays for Napoli.
Osimhen’s life is not in immediate danger due to the earthquake, but he has been criticized by his club for missing a penalty against Bologna.
Osimhen is embroiled in a spat with Napoli after a controversial TikTok video originally posted by the club sparked an altercation.
The video has since been deleted, according to Corriere dello Sport newspaper, after Osimhen expressed his displeasure during the Napoli team dinner on Tuesday night and requested its removal.
Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda expressed his displeasure on social media and threatened legal action to protect the player.
According to Sky Sports, Napoli are now under increasing pressure to address this issue. Osimhen is hoping for both a distance from the controversial video and an apology from the club’s management, especially owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.
