Watch: Azam Khan hit Mohammed Amir for a 6, 4 and 6 in consecutive deliveries during Qualifier 2 to continue his big-hitting form in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League.
Azam, who represents Guyana Amazon Warriors, has a strike rate of 155.55 in the ongoing CPL, which is the second best among the top 10 scorers in this year’s competition. In the final match against Jamaica Tallawahs, he continued his aggressive approach and finished the match with a 27-ball 54, giving his team a big win.
The highlight was his attack on Amir, who is currently at the top of the wicket-taking charts in this CPL. In the last three balls of the penultimate over, Azam first hit deep midwicket for a sixth over, then his next delivery, a yorker, was inside edged past the keeper. He finished high and made the most of the last ball with a deep point, but Amir conceded his 17 in the over.
Azam was eventually dismissed in the final over by Shamar Springer, limiting Guyana’s innings to 182.
Meanwhile, Jamaica lost 101 while Guyana secured the final spot to play Trinbago Knight Riders on Sunday.
