2026 World Cup qualifiers: Super Eagles vs Lesotho clash gets new date

Nigeria’s Super Eagles previously lost their World Cup ticket to Ghana’s Black Stars, preventing them from participating in the 2022 World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Nigeria and Lesotho has been postponed from Friday, November 17 to Thursday, November 16, reports Soccernet.ng.

For reasons that are still unclear, Jose Peseiro’s men will have to face Lesotho earlier than expected at the start of their World Cup qualifiers.

The match between Nigeria and South Africa will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo and will kick off at 5pm Nigerian time.

After this match, the Super Eagles will travel to Kigali to face Warriors of Zimbabwe four days later. The same group includes the squirrel of the Republic of Benin, the Bafana of South Africa and the honey bee of Rwanda.

The team that secures the top spot in their group will qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
