The three-time African champion missed the last edition of the global show and is now focused on qualifying for the next one

Super Eagles fans can now mark their calendars as the official dates for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe have been announced, reports Soccernet.ng.

According to the Super Eagles announcement

Three days after this clash, the former African champions will take on Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Benin Republic, South Africa and Rwanda are Nigeria’s other rivals for the only spot in the group.

The Super Eagles, under the guidance of Portuguese coach Jose Peceiro, will be aiming for maximum points against Lesotho and Zimbabwe next month.

A meeting between Nigeria and Benin’s Squirrels, South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Rwanda’s Wasps is scheduled for 2024.

South Africa and Nigeria are the only teams among the six participating teams to have played in a World Cup.

After overcoming many crises, the top team of the group will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The Super Eagles missed the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after the 2013 AFCON Kings lost to long-time rival Ghana in the final round of the playoffs.
