AB de Villiers has said that being released by Delhi Daredevils after the 2010 IPL season came as a ‘huge surprise’ to him, as he had previously been told he had been retained by the franchise.
De Villiers has been released by the franchise after a week of drama in the 2024 IPL trade season that saw Hardik Pandya return to Mumbai Indians and several other big-name players released. told his own story.
De Villiers said on his YouTube channel: “When I was playing in the 2010 season, I was called into the office and said, ‘Young AB de Villiers, you’re being taken over.'” . He said so in a meeting with David Warner. He was very surprised when he learned a week or two later that he was released. Communication wasn’t that great back then, so it must be different now, but it doesn’t feel good.
“You are not confident about your career. If you look back at 2010, I could only play 5 games in the IPL season, so there were many doubts in my mind, “But I am very good at it.” I had an international season. I continued to play good cricket and luckily an auction happened and I was picked up by RCB. This changed my life forever, such a great memory.”
De Villiers played 7 matches in the 2010 IPL season, scoring 111 runs and scoring a high score of 45 points. The following season, he scored 312 runs in his 16 matches with RCB, and in the 2012 season he broke into the elite, scoring one over. 160 hits.
